A better idea would be to 'seed' your new filter by taking media from your smaller one and placing it in the new one. This will put the beneficial bacteria you want directly into your new filter where it can start to spread and jumpstart your cycling process, considerably reducing the overall amount of time it would take to cycle your tank.
