I forgot to put the o-rings on the filter for my transmission during transmission filter change?

It's a 97' Ford Explorer with a 4.0 litre V-6 engine. It has an automatic overdrive transmission. I just noticed that there were o-rings left in the box. Is it harmful as I wouldn't think that it would be. Not sure though.
