How does a future employer view a candidate that learns Finnish in Finland?
I am going into the visual effects field. I graduated in December of 2006 and have not been able to get a job in creating visual effects. I haven't been able to complete the requirement of 2 years industry level experience since that's what all companies require. I have 4 years school experience with visual effects/ animation. I was interning at a production company, hoping to get a job from it. (I was only able to create animated titles for them in After Effects.) The company took some budget cuts and I knew that I would not get hired. I decided to take a break from interning and go abroad to Finland to learn Finnish. While in Finland, I am planing to look for internships and entry level jobs while learning the language. Does it look bad to a future employer that I decided to take a break from interning and working in Texas and escape to Finland to become fluent at the language?
