My employer has been taking deductions for dental insurance, but when i went to use the insurance i found it?

had been cancelled more than 9 months ago, yet they have still been collecting from me. is this fraud? what do i do? they are acting like they are just going to reinstate it and pay the backed insurance. i had rather just have my money back. any ideas??
