Bee stinger?

I got stung by a bee on my head this morning on my way to work. My coworker looked at the area and says it doesn't even look red and couldn't see anything. It hurts a lot in a very large area; I'm having problems pinpointing exactly where I stung. Does this mean that I don't have to worry about a stinger?
